Merry Christmas One and All

Hello all, not been posting for ages, but wanted to wish you all a very merry Christmas. By way of celebration, here's a top Christmas hit from 1582 (well, 1972-era Steeleye Span... alright, it's actually a 21st century reunion tour version, but anyway - I digress). Season's greetings nawrat.

Casual Violence - Ab Intra Podcast for Geometrika FM and Scarpyard

This mix totally blew me away, some dark, introspective, brain melting shit with spectral static and bleak industrial textures that stays funky nonetheless. This mix sums up the kind of techno I've been particularly enjoying recently . . .it's not exactly something you could break a sweat dancing to, but give it a listen all the way through and see where it takes you . . .

Maurice Fulton

Turns out he's the fucking man. Had the pleasure of seeing him and A Guy Called Gerald on Friday night at a small venue in Leeds with a tasty Funktion 1. Fulton beasted out a quality set of twisted disco and dirty deepness, and if that floats your boat, I urge you to listen to some. Recorded mixes are quite hard to find, here are a couple:

If I find any more I'll get them uploaded.

More of the same.

And some of his own stuff:

And some interviews.

Here's a trailer for my latest ep on Black Lantern Music BLM041 - Morphamish - Another Position E.P. Trailer whole ep FREE DL www.blacklanternmusic.com direct link in comments at 0.00 by morphamish

Another Position by Morphamish is here: Summery, jiggly, melodic, and atmospheric, rump-shaking bass music with plenty of swung beats, sub bass and 808s. Featuring immense vocals from Profisee (CloakXDagger, Phuturelabs) and Full Blush (Black Lantern), and a collaboration with that slinky bastard MAKO (Echodub), Another Position also crams in another four Morphamish tracks.

The E.P. has already received DJ support already from mighty Rag & Bone Records, Sub FM DJs Warlock & No Yeah No and the dynamic duo Blackwax (with forthcoming release on Tube 10).

Joy O

Presumably, Roy Orbison's family could stand no more of this London laddie coasting along on the back of Roy's fame and demanded that he change his name.
I can hear them all now, "This is just too much, too much, too much, too much, too much, too much..."

Friend of the 'tunes Hamish (Morphamish) asked me to post his new mix up here, as he has apparently lost the knowledge vital to do it himself  . . . while we say a prayer for the return of Hamish's posting powers, we can take joy from the fact that his music creation powers are in fine form, as this tasty wee mix clearly demonstrates.

Quick pointer towards some goodness; just found this site via a slabs mix I was listening to. London based crew with an impressive array of guest mixes and podcasts.

Check em out, according to them they're "refreshingly amateurish," and if you ask me, a Good Thing.

Rockabilly DJ

Found this within in a link about the guy selling his mates crap record collection. Cannae mind the link noo, but it doesnae matter cause here comes...

Rockabilly DJ

"The hottest in Rockabilly, Rhythm & Blues, Hillbilly and 1950s style Rock'n'Roll presented by The Rockabilly DJ, Bill Smoker. Broadcasting from the world-famous studio under the stairs in Croydon, south London. This show is also broadcast twice weekly on http://www.rockabillyradio.net"

All of the shows, goin back to January 08 can be streamed, but I'd recommend the ol' 'right click an save link' method, solely because hunners of the tunes are brilliant and should be on yer pc or that.

And moving on, looking back again...

...in the same vein, I just noticed that Bloc are starting to upload recordings from this year's festival; the first of which being A Guy Called Gerald's set, from the Sunday in the tiny Ableton dome venue. Rough pre house jams (or proto-house, is it aye..?) To be honest it sounds like it's been ripped off a cassette tape that's been kicking about since 84 too. The Guy To Gerald's Right appears to have been feeling it. Pretty interesting anyway, if you want your retro electronic buttons pushed, as is the Billy Nasty mix linked on that page from Bloc a couple of years ago. It will definitely be worth checking back here to see what else gets uploaded.

Stream it right inside you
