The reefer man is a gas

  1. wow that's awesome Dave man, there's the lenox avenue from 'puttin on the ritz', and the famous savoy from 'stompin at the savoy' - I think the savoy was actually the first mixed race friendly club ever. You can only imagine how kick ass it would have been. I wonder what the quality of the 'reefer' was like that you got from the 'reefer man' . . .

  2. That is absolutely fantastic, where you found that wee gem? The quotes are great: 'Doing the Bump - a dance.' I'm well doing the Bump, sounds brilliant.

And Mr Bojangles on there too. Always fucking hated the song but I'm sure he could tap-dance like a mu'rfu'r.

Factoid time... The Cotton Club at the time of this map was run by a flatcap-wearing Tyke from Leeds called Owney "The Killer" Madden. Played by Bob Hoskins in the movie from the 80s. An interesting character, and tough as fookin nails by the sound of things: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owney_Madden
