  1. I haven't heard it Kathy, love the vocals in that video though, that's some tortured blues for a white girl called Trixie . . .I'll look out for it, thanks for the tip:)

  2. finally got round to watching this, interesting stuff. some right chin-stroking pretentious dobbers getting interviewed on it but that's the nature of the beast i guess.

had never made the beefheart connection but it's kinda obvious now it's pointed out. always loved his nighthawks at the diner album - that and mule variations are my two favourites. i guess a lot of the more experimental stuff, though interesting (and even more so now that i know who the fuck kurt weill is) isn't what i'd choose to put on the mini-i-cd-pod.

  3. Aye, pretentious dobbers a go-go I'm afraid, gotta love the guy though . . .I also prefer listening to earlier stuff, Blue Valentine is probably my favourite to stick on the mp3 player, but I find this period more 'interesting' which though true, makes me sound like one of the bearded bawbags in this documentary.

Possibly my favourite thing about Tom Waits is that he has never agreed to let any of his music be used in adverts, nomatter how much they offer him, and is quite happy to sue any fucker that even tries it."Apparently, the highest compliment our culture grants artists nowadays is to be in an ad — ideally, naked and purring on the hood of a new car. I have adamantly and repeatedly refused this dubious honor." Brilliant.

Yeah Kurt Weil, interesting guy,how many Frank Sinatra fans knew that mack the knife was written by a Marxist Jew for a Marxist opera critiquing capitalism? He also wrote Alabama song that the Doors covered, although the original lyrics are 'show me the way to the next pretty boy'. Oh my.
