Aphex Twin face mapping

Aphex Twin used live facial recognition to map the audience and overlay images of his trademark fucked up face  at the London Electronic Festival (LED) this weekend. So cool man. And the tunes sound pretty special too. . . .

  1. Why is it every time aphex is amazing live, its when i dont go, and not the 15 other times he was pish.

  2. I thought the rule was never go to see him play in the UK, but clearly not in this instance. All sounds rather fruity.

Also, is it just me, or is he not just a wee bit too enthusiastic about his own face?

  3. You're obviously not taking enough acid before you go Dave . . .

Wasn't he brilliant when he played that rephlex night at the Art School but? I seem to half remember it being awesome, although I may have been in a less than competent state to judge at the time . . .

He may be a bit over enthusiastic about his own face, but don't tell me you wouldn't love it if he digitally mapped it over yours on a massive screen while melting your brain with crazy tunes.

  4. Wouldn't know about the Rephlex night as due to a ticket malfunction I had to go to see Josh Wink instead. All my pals from Leeds were there though, and as I recall he was apparently shite. Only played one turntable cos the other one was 'broken'. Mikey Dredd was pretty good apparently, banged out the gabber.

Josh Wink on the other hand was outstanding. Well, mibbes. You could ask Tambo what nick I was in... seem to recall passing out in the queue anyway. One of the first times I met Tam if I remember correctly?

Only time I've seen Aphex do it right was at Sonar - he rocked it. The time he played the Orbit was interesting but not because of him. Cylob getting spat on for playing Salt'n'Pepa, followed by the mass exodus of the Morley Orbit massive grabbed my attention more than RDJ's fanny-dancing on the balcony with an umbrella. Or did I dream that bit. Who knows.
